A look into our second quarter

The past quarter has been an incredibly busy one for the SAB Foundation, with several important moments across our programmes and our wider work.

We have opened applications for our flagship Tholoana Enterprise Programme, as we begin the search for the next cohort of entrepreneurs. We have also selected the finalists for the 2026 Social Innovation and Disability Empowerment Awards, following an inspiring workshop and judging process. I look forward to introducing you to these entrepreneurs and innovators as we build towards the Awards in October.

 August also gave us an opportunity to celebrate the women within our own community. As part of Women’s Month, we brought some of our Tholoana entrepreneurs into the SAB workplace, giving employees an opportunity to meet the women behind the businesses, experience their products and hear more about what it takes to build a business in South Africa.

This quarter also took the SAB Foundation into some important international conversations. I travelled to Mexico to meet with colleagues from other foundations across the AB InBev group. It was a valuable opportunity to share the work we are doing in South Africa, learn from approaches in other markets and explore the different ways our colleagues are contributing to their communities.

I then travelled to Switzerland for the STARS Symposium, where I joined a conversation on entrepreneurship and the role it is playing in shaping Africa’s economic future.

I have also started sharing some of my own reflections on the issues affecting entrepreneurs through Sarah’s Perspective. These conversations give me an opportunity to explore some of the questions we encounter through our work and the experiences of the entrepreneurs we support.

As we move into the final quarter of 2026, there is plenty still ahead. In October, we will announce the winners of this year’s Social Innovation and Disability Empowerment Awards, and we will also launch our new Impact Report, sharing the results and stories behind the Foundation’s work.

It has been a full quarter, and I am looking forward to what the final months of the year will bring.
